Surface Preparation for I
Epoxy rust-tolerant anti-rust primer (2K) for steel surfaces with slight rust.
Applicable on St1/St2 prepared steel; surface profile 15–35 µm (as stated).
Stabilizes rust by complexation with the substrate before hardening (as described).
Compatible with epoxy MIO intermediate and epoxy/PU topcoat systems.
Overview
Two-component, polyamide-cured epoxy rust-tolerant anti-rust primer designed for application on slightly rusted steel surfaces and incompletely cleaned metal surfaces.
The coating film is described as forming stable complexation with the substrate before hardening to stabilize rust and provide durable rust protection.
Composition
Epoxy resin, active anti-rust pigments, organic nitrogen base, penetrant, stabilizer, additives, and solvent; polyamide curing agent; supplied as Part A and Part B.
Typical uses
Direct application on slightly rusted steel and incompletely derusted metal surfaces; minimum surface preparation stated as St1/St2.
Technical data (typical)
Appearance / color: Iron oxide red, gray.
Theoretical consumption: 0.16 kg/m² at 50 µm DFT (losses not included).
Density / specific gravity: 1.4 kg/L.
Drying / curing (25°C): Touch dry 1 h; hard dry 24 h; full cure 7 days.
Application data (25°C)
Mixing ratio (A:B): 24:3.
Induction time: 5 min.
Pot life: 4 h.
Application methods: Airless spray, brush, roller.
Thinner / Cleaner: X-7 epoxy thinner; typical dilution 2–8% (air spray/roller may require more).
Recoat interval / overcoating interval (25°C): Minimum 12 h; maximum 7 days.
Recommended DFT: 50–80 µm per coat (brush/roller: 30–40 µm per coat).
Surface preparation
Remove oil, loose dust, water stains, and loose rust; minimum surface preparation St1/St2; surface profile 15–35 µm.
If derusting is more thorough, performance is stated to be more prominent.
System compatibility / packing / storage
Compatible topcoats: epoxy MIO intermediate coating, epoxy topcoat, polyurethane topcoat; also acrylic, chlorinated rubber, high chlorinated polyethylene, chlorosulfonated polyethylene, and chlorinated ether topcoats.
Shelf life: 12 months.
Storage: Store in a dry, cool, ventilated warehouse away from fire sources and direct sunlight; outdoor storage is not permitted.
Packaging: Part A 24 kg; Part B 3 kg.
