S55-2 Polyurethane cooling tower damp-proof coating (primer/topcoat) Descriotion

Overview
Two-component polyurethane damp-proof coating system for waterproofing and anti-corrosion.
Provides strong adhesion, water resistance, damp-heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and mildew resistance.

Composition
Formulated with polyurethane resin, impermeability pigments, anti-rust pigments, reinforcing materials, solvents, and additives.
Cured with polyisocyanate; supplied in Part A & Part B packs.

Typical uses
Waterproof and anti-corrosion for concrete structures and steel structures, including cooling towers, sewage tanks, mines, and underground buildings.

Technical data (typical)

  • Appearance: Primer—brown; topcoat—grey.

  • Theoretical consumption: Primer 0.16 kg/m² at 50 μm DFT; topcoat 0.13 kg/m² at 40 μm DFT (excluding loss).

  • Density: Primer 1.4 kg/L; topcoat 1.2 kg/L.

  • Drying time (25°C): Surface dry 1 h; hard dry 24 h; fully cured 7 d.

Application data (25°C)

  • Mixing ratio (Part A:Part B): Primer 24:3; topcoat 18:3.

  • Induction time: 5 min.

  • Pot life: 4 h.

  • Application methods: Airless spray, brush, roller.

  • Thinner: X-7 polyurethane thinner; dilution 3–7%.

  • Recoat interval (25°C): Min 12 h; max unlimited.

  • Recommended coats / DFT: 1 coat 40–60 μm; brush/roller 1 coat 30–40 μm.

Surface preparation
Steel: blast/shot blast to Sa 2.5 or power-tool cleaning to St 3; surface profile 30–75 μm.
Concrete: must be sound and dry (moisture content ≤6%), free of contamination; repair defects and apply after a sealing primer; for old coatings, roughen and remove chalked/loose parts.

System compatibility / packing / storage

  • Compatibility: S55-2 system—cooling tower damp-proof primer + topcoat.

  • Packing: Primer—Part A 24 kg, Part B 3 kg; topcoat—Part A 18 kg, Part B 3 kg.

  • Storage: Shelf life 12 months; store dry/cool/ventilated, away from fire and direct sunlight; no outdoor stacking.
