PLSX-20 Waterborne Polyurethane Topcoat

Waterborne polyurethane topcoat (2K) for durable color/gloss over waterborne epoxy.

  • Light to medium corrosive steel environments.

  • 0.11 kg/m² at 40 µm; pot life 3 h.

  • Water thinning 10–20%; 2 primer + 2 topcoat.

PLSX-20 Waterborne Polyurethane Topcoat Descriotion

Overview
Waterborne polyurethane topcoat for steel surfaces in light to medium corrosive environments where color/gloss retention and cleanability are important.
Film emphasizes weatherability and durability on steel structures over waterborne epoxy systems, with balanced hardness and flexibility.

Composition
Waterborne polyurethane resin with pigments, special additives, and curing agent; supplied as Part A & Part B; water as thinner.

Typical uses
Durable topcoat paired with waterborne epoxy coatings, providing decorative and protective finishing in light to medium corrosive environments.

Technical data (typical)

  • Appearance: various colors.

  • Density: 1.2 kg/L.

  • Theoretical consumption: 0.11 kg/m² at 40 µm DFT (loss not included).

  • Drying time (25℃): surface dry 2 h; hard dry 24 h; full cure 7 d.

Application data (25°C)

  • Application methods: spray, brush, roller.

  • Pot life: 3 h at 25℃.

  • Thinner: clean water, 10–20%.

  • Recoat interval: min 24 h; max 7 d.

  • Recommended system: 2 coats primer / 2 coats topcoat.

Surface preparation
For overcoating: remove dust, oil, and contaminants from previous coat; roughen if maximum recoat interval is exceeded.
As first coat: blast or power-tool clean steel to Sa 2.5 or St 3 with 30–75 µm profile.

System compatibility / packing / storage

  • System compatibility: topcoat in waterborne epoxy + polyurethane systems for steel in light to medium corrosive conditions.

  • Storage: dry, cool, ventilated warehouse; 5–35℃; avoid strong sunlight, severe cold, and rain.

  • Shelf life: 6 months.
