Epoxy waterline coating (2K) for ship hull waterline protection.
Waterline area substrates.
0.16 kg/m² at 50 µm DFT.
Mix 24:3; pot life 4 h.
Overview
Two-component epoxy waterline coating for steel hull areas requiring thick-film build and wet/dry cycling resistance.
Performance focus: water resistance, damp-heat corrosion resistance, hardness, abrasion resistance, and wave impact resistance.
Composition
Modified epoxy resin with premium pigments, solvent, additives, and polyamide adduct curing agent; Part A & Part B.
Typical uses
Protection and decoration for waterline area substrates.
Technical data (typical)
Appearance: iron red, purple red.
Theoretical consumption: 0.16 kg/m² at 50 µm DFT (loss not included).
Density: 1.4 kg/L.
Drying time (25℃): surface dry 1 h; hard dry 24 h; full cure 7 d.
Application data (25°C)
Mixing ratio (Part A:Part B): 24:3.
Induction time: 5 min at 25℃.
Pot life: 4 h at 25℃.
Application methods: airless spray, brush, roller.
Thinner: X-7 epoxy thinner, 2–8% (higher for air spray/roller).
Recoat interval: min 24 h; max 7 d.
Recommended coats/DFT: 1 coat 40–80 µm; brush/roller 1 coat 30–40 µm.
Recommended system: epoxy primer + epoxy intermediate coating.
Surface preparation
Over primer: surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of contamination; roughen if maximum recoat interval exceeded.
As first primer: blast-clean steel to Sa 2.5 or power-tool clean to St 3; surface profile 30–75 µm.
System compatibility / packing / storage
Compatibility: used with epoxy primer and epoxy intermediate coating; apply at 5–35℃ and RH ≤85%, avoid rain/snow/strong wind (>6.7 m/s)/heavy fog/intense sunlight.
Packing: Part A 24 kg; Part B 3 kg.
Storage: store in a dry, cool, ventilated warehouse; keep away from fire sources; avoid strong sunlight; no outdoor stacking; shelf life 12 months.
