PLHL52-1 Epoxy Bitumen Glass Flake Coating Descriotion

Overview
Two-component epoxy bitumen glass flake coating for heavy-duty protection of steel and concrete in underground/underwater service and internal linings.

Composition
Epoxy resin, coal tar pitch, glass flakes, solvent, additives; modified amine curing agent; supplied as Part A & Part B.

Typical uses
Underground/underwater steel structures and concrete facilities, or internal lining protection.
Examples include gas holder/tank bottom plates and underground mines.

Technical data (typical)

  • Appearance: brown-black.

  • Theoretical consumption: 0.38 kg/m² at 150 µm DFT (loss not included).

  • Density: 1.28 kg/L.

  • Drying time (25°C): surface dry 2 h; hard dry 24 h; full cure 7 d.

Application data (25°C)

  • Mixing ratio (A:B): 25:2 or 25:3.5.

  • Induction time: 5 min.

  • Pot life: 4 h.

  • Application methods: airless spray, brush, roller.

  • Thinner: X-7 epoxy thinner, 2–8%.

  • Recoat interval: min 24 h; max 7 d.

  • Recommended DFT per coat: 50–80 µm (brush/roller 30–50 µm).

Surface preparation
If applied over a two-component primer, surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants; abrade if beyond the maximum recoat interval.
If used directly as the first coat, blast to Sa 2.5 or power-tool clean to St 3; surface profile 30–75 µm.

System compatibility / packing / storage

  • System compatibility: epoxy zinc-rich primer; inorganic zinc-rich primer; epoxy bitumen glass flake coating.

  • Packing: Part A 25 kg; Part B 2 kg or 3.5 kg.

  • Storage: store in a dry, cool, ventilated place; keep away from fire; avoid strong sunlight; no outdoor storage.

  • Shelf life: 12 months.
