Overview
Single-component epoxy ester anti-rust primer for steel structures; air-drying or low-temperature baking curing is specified.
It is described as having good adhesion, a tough film, and convenient application for rust prevention.

Composition
Epoxy ester resin, iron oxide red, zinc oxide, corrosion inhibitor, extenders, additives, solvent, and drier.

  • Applied on steel structures for corrosion protection, such as guardrails and mining/mineshaft equipment.

Technical data (typical)

  • Appearance / color: Iron oxide red.

  • Theoretical consumption: 0.17 kg/m² at 50 µm DFT (losses not included).

  • Density / specific gravity: 1.4 kg/L.

  • Drying / curing (25°C): Touch dry 1 h; hard dry 24 h; full cure 7 days.

Application data (25°C)

  • Mixing instructions: Single-pack.

  • Pot life: No limit (as stated).

  • Application methods: Airless spray, brush, roller.

  • Thinner / Cleaner: X-7 epoxy thinner; typical dilution 2–8% (air spray/roller may require more).

  • Recoat interval / overcoating interval (25°C): Minimum 24 h; maximum 7 days.

  • Recommended DFT: 30–50 µm per coat (brush/roller: 30–40 µm per coat).

Surface preparation

  • Abrasive blasting or shot blasting to Sa 2.5, or power-tool cleaning to St 3; surface profile 30–75 µm.

System compatibility / packing / storage

  • Compatible topcoats: alkyd topcoat, alkyd enamel.

  • Shelf life: 12 months.

  • Storage: Store in a dry, cool, ventilated warehouse away from fire sources and direct sunlight; outdoor storage is not permitted.
