Single-component water-based rust converter primer that chemically converts rust into a stable film component for tanks, bridges, pipelines and automotive components. Low-VOC, fast surface dry in 30 minutes. 40µm DFT per coat.
Overview
Waterborne rust conversion primer that chemically converts rust into part of the coating film.
Composition
Special copolymer emulsion with functional additives and rust converter; water as thinner; fully dry film is blue-purple or black.
Typical uses
Rust-conversion pretreatment for rusted metal substrates of tanks, bridges, pipelines, brackets, automotive parts, etc., forming an integral anti-rust coating by reacting with rust.
Technical data (typical)
Appearance: milky white or brown uniform liquid.
Density: 1.05 kg/L.
Theoretical consumption: 0.1 kg/m² at 40 µm DFT (loss not included).
Drying time (25°C): surface dry 30 min; hard dry 24 h.
Application data (25°C)
Application methods: spray, brush, roller.
Thinner: clean water, ≤5%.
Number of coats: 1–2 depending on rust level.
Recoat rules: if a second rust-conversion coat is needed, apply within 10 min after first coat; after completion, minimum 24 h before applying subsequent intermediate or topcoats.
Surface preparation
Use water jet, wire brush, or power tools to remove loose rust, oil, and other non-adherent matter; minimum St1–St2.
System compatibility / packing / storage
Construction conditions: ambient 5–35°C; not suitable in rain, fog, snow, or when RH ≥85%.
Storage: dry, cool, ventilated; temperature 5–35°C; avoid strong sunlight, severe cold, and rain.
Shelf life: 12 months.
