HL55-3 Epoxy bitumen cooling tower damp-proof coating (primer/topcoat) Description

Overview
Two-component epoxy bitumen damp-proof coating system for cooling tower inner walls.
Provides impermeability, waterproofing, mildew resistance, corrosion resistance, and heat resistance.

Composition
Formulated with epoxy resin, bitumen, lamellar fillers, solvents, and additives.
Cured with modified amine; supplied in Part A & Part B packs.

Typical uses
Protection of cooling tower inner walls, and waterproof/anti-corrosion for sewage tanks and underground mines.

Technical data (typical)

  • Appearance: Primer—red-brown; topcoat—black.

  • Theoretical consumption: 0.17 kg/m² at 60 μm DFT (excluding loss).

  • Density: 1.3 kg/L.

  • Drying time (25°C): Surface dry 1 h; hard dry 24 h; fully cured 7 d.

Application data (25°C)

  • Mixing ratio (Part A:Part B): 25:2.5.

  • Induction time: 5 min.

  • Pot life: 4 h.

  • Application methods: Airless spray, brush, roller.

  • Thinner: X-7 epoxy thinner; dilution 3–7%.

  • Recoat interval (25°C): Min 12 h; max unlimited.

  • Recommended coats / DFT: 1 coat 40–60 μm; brush/roller 1 coat 30–40 μm.

Surface preparation
Steel: blast/shot blast to Sa 2.5 or power-tool cleaning to St 3; surface profile 30–75 μm.
Concrete: must be sound and dry (moisture content ≤6%), free of contamination; repair defects and wash/de-alkalize, dry, then apply after a sealing primer.

System compatibility / packing / storage

  • Packing: Part A 25 kg; Part B 2.5 kg.

  • Storage: Shelf life 12 months; store dry/cool/ventilated, away from fire and direct sunlight; no outdoor stacking.
