Single-component water-based rust-tolerant primer with low VOC for lightly corroded steel structures where thorough rust removal is impractical. Reduces surface preparation time and cost. Surface dry in 1 hour, 50µm DFT per coat.
Overview
Waterborne rust-tolerant anti-rust primer for steel structures where complete rust removal is difficult.
Composition
Waterborne resin with active anti-rust pigments, special additives, functional fillers; water as thinner.
Typical uses
Anti-corrosion of various steel structures, especially where thorough rust removal is not feasible; can be applied directly over lightly rusted steel or steel without loose mill scale, providing stabilization, conversion, and anti-rust functions.
Technical data (typical)
Appearance: iron red, grey.
Density: 1.3 kg/L.
Theoretical consumption: 0.13 kg/m² at 50 µm DFT (loss not included).
Drying time (25°C): surface dry 1 h; hard dry 24 h; full cure 7 d.
Application data (25°C)
Application methods: spray, brush, roller.
Thinner: clean water, 5–15%.
Recoat interval: ≥24 h.
Surface preparation
Steel surface manually or mechanically cleaned to St1–St2; a small amount of rust allowed but no loose mill scale, loose rust, oil, dust, or other contaminants.
System compatibility / packing / storage
Construction conditions: ambient temperature 5–35°C; not suitable in rain, fog, snow, or when RH ≥85%.
Storage: dry, cool, ventilated; temperature 5–35°C; avoid strong sunlight, severe cold, and rain.
Shelf life: 6 months.
